Starting with a Student's Strengths

This year, some teachers have been using a revised goal setting form focusing on students strengths and growth areas.  Instead of just looking at a Guided Reading Level or a MAP RIT number, students are encouraged to focus on reading strategies and behaviors.  We have had some very positive success when students think about what they are doing well and then look at areas they want to get better at.
I came across a short article from Joan Moser, one of "the sisters" about Teaching Students Through Their Strengths.  Click here to read and access some great strategies from the Daily Cafe site.
